Newfinese Please is committed to an inclusive online experience for everyone, including people with disabilities. We’re working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA across newfineseplease.ca, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time fix.
We primarily serve customers in Canada and the United States, with shipping available beyond. While accessibility laws differ by region, WCAG is the common technical benchmark referenced by regulators and courts, and it is our target standard for the site.
How We Work Toward Accessibility
Standards & scope
We aim to conform with WCAG 2.2 Level AA across pages we control on newfineseplease.ca. This includes structure (headings, landmarks), keyboard operability, focus styles, colour contrast, forms and labels, error prevention, alt text, and motion or animation preferences.
Measures we take
• We build on Shopify’s Horizon theme, which includes accessibility-focused defaults like semantic HTML and keyboard operability.
• We add descriptive alt text to product images and use clear, well-structured headings.
• We test new templates for keyboard-only navigation and basic screen-reader compatibility before launch.
• We provide a feedback channel (below) and respond promptly to accessibility issues you report.
Testing approach
We combine automated checks with manual testing — including keyboard-only navigation and screen-reader compatibility checks — and review new product and page templates before they go live. Conformance can vary as content changes, so we welcome reports so we can fix issues quickly.
Assistive Technology & Compatibility
Our site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. We seek compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies — including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and mobile screen readers — and platform accessibility features such as browser zoom, system high-contrast modes, and prefers-reduced-motion.
The website may not display optimally in older browsers or older operating systems. If you experience any conflict with your setup, let us know (contact below) so we can address it.
Third-Party Content
Some content, widgets, or embeds (such as third-party reviews, payment processors, or social media feeds) may be outside our full control. We ask partners to provide accessible components and, where feasible, supply accessible alternatives or links.
Regional Notes
Canada
In our home province, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Accessibility Act (2021) sets out standards being phased in across sectors. Other provinces have their own regimes — for example, Ontario’s AODA Integrated Accessibility Standards require WCAG 2.0 AA for large private-sector organizations, and Manitoba’s Accessible Information & Communication Standard for private-sector organizations came into force May 1, 2025. We follow WCAG 2.2 AA as our internal target across all customers, regardless of province.
United States (ADA)
The U.S. Department of Justice has affirmed that ADA obligations apply to business websites. While Title III has no single technical rule, WCAG is widely used to evaluate accessibility.
United Kingdom
The Equality Act 2010 prohibits discrimination. Public-sector websites have specific accessibility statement requirements, and WCAG is the common benchmark that private businesses follow as good practice.
Australia
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 is supported by national guidance. Australia formally adopts WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the minimum benchmark.
