WHAT IT MEANS This one's not slang — it's straight-up history with a Newfoundland grin. Around the year 1000, Norse explorers sailed across the North Atlantic and landed at L'Anse aux Meadows on the island's northern tip, the only confirmed Viking settlement in all of North America. They called the land Vinland. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site today, and it means Newfoundland was hosting transatlantic visitors a full five centuries before the rest of the continent caught on. Add a b'y to the end and you've got a thousand years of history wearing a wink.

Printed in Vaughan, Ontario by Duplium using water-based inks.
